Bonjour from Nice!

We are at the Nice Airport waiting to fly to Rome!! I hope the food is as great as it's advertised in the States! I'm ready for some pizza and pasta. Today, we woke up at 10am (first time ever!) and took a bike ride around Nice. We biked along the boardwalk all the way to the airport. The locals/tourists in Nice are all very chill and are out very late at night- children and the elderly included! France was awesome, now onto Italy! We're going to Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre, and then to Venice. We're meeting my sister tonight, I'm so excited. We miss asian food already and would kill for some ramen, s'il vous plait!

4 more weeks til I get back to Bath. I'm pretty excited to be in one place for more than 3 days at a time and am excited to meet Geraldine- the lady I'm staying with in Bath! I signed up for a mentor program from the Univ of Bath so I'll have at least one friend. :)

I do miss my f/phamily though.

Onto the next adventure!

today's the day!

The day has finally arrived! I still can't believe I'm leaving today.

It's 10:36am and I just received my visa/passport from the UPS man, phew! I'm flying out this afternoon-- the UK consulate loves to stress people out before they travel, I guess. I started packing last night around 7 pm and started panicking since there was so much to pack and I only have one regular sized backpack, one carry on suitcase, and another medium suitcase. I probably should have started earlier... whoops!

Fitting my entire life into 2 suitcases was very interesting. My sister kept making me put stuff back, and I kept trying to shove more things in my luggage. My suitcases are packed to the max, so if I buy anything there, I guess I'll have to throw some clothes away- haha.

Will be flying to atlanta, then to london! i'm landing in london @ 12:15pm on the 24th- going to put my stuff up in storage, picking up a sim card for my phone, then heading to the chunnel (english channel tunnel!). I'm going to ride the train from London to Paris through the underground tunnel they built under the English channel!

I'm soooooo excited. See you in 4 months, Texas!

Au revoir Garland, bonjour Paris! (Practicing my veryyy shaky francais, lol)

...almost there!

In...

5 days: I will be done with my 3 finals and going back home to Garland!

11 days: I will be boarding my plane to London

12 days: I will be taking a million pictures of the Eiffel Tower & baguettes in Paris! <3

I am so excited for this trip, but I don't feel prepared at all. =O

I haven't:
-received my visa-- eeeeeeeek!!! i hope it comes soon!!
-finished buying stuff for my trip
-packed
-spent enough time with family & friends (will only by home for 6 days!)
-looked up directions to storage in London & the train station & how to get to the Paris hotel from the train
-planned anything for our 5 week backpacking trip!

I have never been out of the country/this far away from my family & friends for more than 5 days at a time; i will be gone for f-o-u-r months. i'm worried how I will make friends since I will be staying with this lady in Bath, not with other students. Who will I hang out with? What will I eat? How will I get around without being completely lost all the time? What if I can't figure out how to communicate in French? How will Amelia & I communicate in non English/Spanish/French speaking countries?? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

while abroad, I will miss: my family, my phamily & friends, thanksgiving, getting ready for christmas, celebrating my birthday with loved ones, & the food!

i'm sooooo ready for this trip after this exhausting summer, hope I will have lots of fun & amazing experiences abroad. I'm just worried I will get homesick after a few months, but hopefully I'll have many new friends to distract me!

thought of the day:
your words should match up with your actions.
actions speak louder than words-- this phrase is a cliche', i know... but so true. after this summer, i feel like i need a change, now more than ever. i need to hold on to what's important, and let go of the rest.
